Kevin Stymiest saw the jeep and decided to ask what it was all about. After talking for a few minutes he decided he would like to donate the proceeds to Task Force Vet Visits to help support our mission.

Task Force Vet Visits is all volunteers so 100% of donations go to support Active Duty, Veterans, Gold Star Families, and First Responders. According to founder Rocco Bortone, he was expecting a donation of $100-200. “Our biggest recurring expense is providing dinner for Lutz Buddy Up Wrentham, Massachusetts. Our volunteers spend between $50-130 to feed up to 30 Veterans and First Responders each month. I was thinking the donation would cover a couple of dinners. When Kevin told me he would be donating $1000 from the Ice Fishing Derby to us I was very surprised.”

According to Bortone, between this very generous donation and Oakham decals (available at Route 148 Package & Variety), an appreciation dinner will be put on for Oakham’s Fire and Police Departments and their spouses. Jonathan Poe, of Route 148 Package & Variety, is working on the menu. The dinner is expected to be within the next 2 months.

Bortone, who moved to Oakham in January of 2021, felt that the generosity of Kevin, his crew, and all the participants should go right back to the community. Oakham, incorporated in 1762, has a population of approximately 1900 people. Despite the pandemic and inflation, it is very clear the People of Oakham support Our Troops and First Responders.

Lutz Buddy Up Social dinners are hosted by Task Force Vet Visits, Inc (EIN: 82-4718819) with the approval of Lcpl Janos V. Lutz Live to Tell Foundation.
